A pair of late 19th/early 20th century Paris porcelain hunting dogs, Edmé Samson imitating Chelsea. Each dog is modelled seated with a bone, gilt collar and painted chain lead, each with gold anchor mark to base.

In good condition except for one dog has a hairline on it's leg near it's paw.

Edme Samson began his career by making service and set piece replacements in the late 1830s. In 1845 he opened the ceramics firm Samson, Edmé et Cie at 7, Rue Vendôme (later Rue Béranger) in Paris, with the intention of supplying reproductions of ceramics on display in museums and private collections
