19thC Branding Iron

A 19th century branding iron, the old way to mark the ownership of cattle. Each farm/landowner would have their own specific brand. This on is possibly a 'y' but could be an 'h' or even 'is' It has been attached to a mahogany handle in the form of bamboo.

Condition... Metalwork is good and solid. The bamboo effect handle is a later but still old addition. The end of the handle appears to have something missing possibly a finial or knob? All has been clean, waxed and polished.
